Chicken Shashlik


Chicken cubes and diced vegetables are skewered and grilled in this dish and served with a spicy tomato sauce. Generally eaten with vegetable fried rice.

Ingredients for marination:

  1. Chicken boneless cut into cubes 1/2kg.
  2. Dark soy sauce 2 tbsp.
  3. Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp.
  4. Tomato ketchup 2 tbsp.
  5. Chili sauce 2 tbsp.
  6. Black pepper powder 1/2 tsp.
  7. Red chili crushed 1 tsp.
  8. Mustard powder 1 tbsp.
  9. Ginger paste 1/2 tsp.
  10. Garlic paste 1/2 tsp.

Ingredients for skewer:

  1. Capsicums cut into cubes 1 cup
  2. Onion cut into cubes 1 cup
  3. Tomatoes cut into cube 1 cup
  4. Skewers 10-12

Ingredients for the sauce:

  1. Tomatoes chopped 2
  2. Ginger 1 tsp.
  3. Garlic 1 tsp.
  4. Chicken powder 1 tbsp.
  5. Chili sauce 3 tbsp.
  6. Tomato ketchup 3 tbsp.
  7. Black pepper 1/2 tsp.
  8. Red chili crushed 1 tsp.
  9. Oil 2 tbsp.
  10. Water 1glass

Method:

  • Marinate the chicken with soy sauce,worcestershire sauce, mustard powder ,tomato ketchup,chilly sauce,black pepper powder, ginger garlic paste and red chili crushed.
  • Leave it for at least 1/2 an hour.
  • Mix onions,capsicums and tomatoes which are cut in cubes with the marinated chicken.
  • Now put them in the skewers.
  • Grill the skewers until done.

Method for the sauce:

  • Heat oil in the pan.
  • Add ginger garlic paste, fry.
  • Add tomatoes cook till it gets soft.
  • Now add chilly sauce,tomato ketchup,black pepper, red chili crushed and chicken powder.
  • Cook for 1 or 2 minutes.
  • Now add 1 glass water and cook till it gets thick.
  • Serve with plain rice or egg fried rice.

    1. Put about 1 tbsp. of oil on the grilling pan and spread all over the pan and grill it for about 4-5 minutes changing the sides or until they are light brown.
