Khattay aloo

Baby potatoes can be used whole for cooking this dish. Whole spices like cumin seeds mixed with red chili powder and tamarind gives spicy tangy taste to this dish. It can be eaten as a snack.


  1. Potatoes 1/2kg
  2. Cumin seeds 1tsp
  3. Red chili powder 1tsp
  4. Chat masala 1/2tsp
  5. Curry leaves few
  6. Green coriander 1tp
  7. Green chillies chopped 2
  8. Tamarind pulp 3tbsp
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Oil 2tbsp


  • Boil the potatoes and cut the in small pieces.
  • Heat the oil in the pan.
  • Add tamarind,cumin seeds,red chili powder,chat masala, salt and curry leaves.
  • Add little water and cook.
  • When dries add potatoes,green chillies and coriander.
  • Mix them in masala.
  • Cover and cook for 2 minutes on low flame.
