Shawarma is a Levantine Arab sandwich like wrap.It can be made from grilled beef, chicken or lamb served in pita bread with special salad and sauces.


  1. Boneless chicken (cut into julienne) 1/2 kg.
  2. Onion (cut into julienne)  1
  3. Jalapeño pepper chopped  2
  4. Pickled cucumbers sliced  2
  5. Cinnamon powder a pinch
  6. Garlic paste 1 tbsp.
  7. Soy sauce 1 tbsp.
  8. HP sauce 2 tbsp.
  9. Oil 2 tbsp
  10. DP sauce 2 tbsp.
  11. White vinegar 2 tbsp.
  12. White pepper 1 tsp.
  13. Salt 1 tsp.
  14. Chili sauce 4 tbsp.
  15. Yogurt 4 tbsp.
Ingredients for Shawarma Sauce:
  1. Yogurt whipped 1 cup
  2. Lemon juice 1 tbsp.
  3. Garlic paste 1 tsp.
  4. Salt 1 tsp.
  5. White pepper 1 tsp.
  6. Tahini (sesame paste) 4 tbsp.

Method for  Shawarma Sauce:

  • In a bowl mix together tahini, whipped yogurt, garlic paste,  salt,  tsp white pepper, lemon juice and serve with showarma.

Method for  Shawarma:

  • Marinate chicken with garlic paste, white pepper, soy sauce, white vinegar, salt, cinnamon powder, HP sauce, chili sauce, DP sauce and yogurt.
  • Heat griller  and grill the marinated chicken until done.
  • Heat pita bread or hot dog bun.
  • Spread Shawarma sauce, put onion,  Jalapeno pepper, pickled cucumbers and grilled chicken.
  • Wrap Shawarma in butter paper, serve hot immediately.
