Prawns in hot sauce


This oriental dish combines fried prawns with green chilies in hot sauce. Best with egg fried rice or plain steamed rice.

Ingredients for marination:

  1. Prawns 1/2 kg.
  2. Soy sauce 1 tsp.
  3. Salt 1/4 tsp.
  4. Black pepper 1/2 tsp.

Ingredients for batter:

  1. Egg 1
  2. All purpose flour (maida) 2 tbsp.
  3. Corn flour 2 tbsp.
  4. Baking powder 1/2 tsp.
  5. Salt 1/4 tsp.
  6. Water as required
  7. Oil for deep frying

Ingredients for sauce:

  1. Oil 1 tbsp.
  2. Ginger and garlic crushed 1 tsp.
  3. Chicken stock 1 cup
  4. Soy sauce 2 tbsp.
  5. Chili sauce 3 tbsp.
  6. Black pepper powder 1/2 tsp.
  7. Chicken powder 1 tsp.
  8. Green chilies 8
  9. Corn flour (dissolved in water) 2 tbsp.
  10. Spring onions for garnishing

Method:

  • Marinade the prawns with soy sauce,salt and black pepper for 15 mins.
  • In a bowl take egg, flour,corn flour, salt,baking powder and make batter adding required amount of chilled water.
  • Now dip the prawns in the batter and deep fry them.

Method for sauce: 

  • In a pan heat oil.
  • Fry chopped ginger and garlic.
  • Add chicken stock and cook till it starts to boil.
  • Now add soy sauce,chili sauce,chicken powder and black pepper.
  • Put corn flour to make it thick.
  • Add fried prawns.
  • Take out in a dish garnish with spring onions.
  • Serve with noodles or fried rice.
