1. Rice 2 cups
  2. Mung daal 1 cup
  3. Onion (sliced)  1
  4. Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp.
  5. Whole black pepper 6
  6. Black cardamom 1
  7. Cinnamon 1/2 inch piece
  8. Cloves 5
  9. Salt 1 tsp.
  10. Oil 2 tbsp.


  • Take rice and mung daal together in a bowl and soak them for 1 hour.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Fry onion till light brown.
  • Wash the rice and put in the fried onion.
  • Add 5 cups of water,salt, cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, black cardamom and whole black pepper.
  • Bring to boil and cook till the water absorbs.
  • Cover and cook on low heat for 5 minutes.
