Meat balls curry (Kofta curry)

Ingredients for koftas:

  1. Mince beef (keema) 1/2 kg
  2. Onions (small) 2
  3. Green chilies 3-4
  4. Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp.
  5. Coriander leaves 1 tbsp.
  6. Mint leaves 1 tbsp.
  7. Red chili powder 1 tsp.
  8. All spice powder (garam masala powder) 1/2 tsp.
  9. Gram flour (besan) 2tbsp.
  10. Cumin seeds 1 tsp.
  11. Poppy seeds (khus khus) 1 tbsp.

Ingredients for gravy:

  1. Onions 4
  2. Tomatoes 3
  3. Yogurt 1/2 cup
  4. Red chili powder 2 tsp.
  5. Coriander powder 1 1/2 tsp.
  6. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp.
  7. Salt 2 tsp.
  8. Whole spice powder 1 tsp.
  9. Green chilies 6
  10. Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp.
  11. Oil 1/2 cup
  12. Coriander leaves for garnishing

Method for koftas:

  • In a chopper put mince meat , onions, green chilies, red chili powder, coriander leaves, mint leaves, ginger garlic paste, all spice powder, gram flour, and poppy seeds.
  • Grind them together.
  • Make small round shaped balls (koftas) from the mixture.
  • Keep them aside.

Method for curry:

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Fry the onions till golden brown.
  • Take them out from the pan and grind them into a fine paste.
  • Put it bask in the same pan.
  • Add garlic ginger paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt and finely chopped tomatoes.
  • Cook till the tomatoes are soft and oil separates.
  • Add 1 cup water and bring to boil.
  • Now put meat balls one by one do not stir.
  • Lower the heat.
  • Whisk the yogurt.
  • Pour on top.
  • Mix lightly with shaking the pan.
  • Sprinkle whole spice powder on top.
  • Cover and cook for 20-30 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
  • Serve with peas pulao or Naan.
