Kaali Daal


Ingredients:

  1. Masoor daal 2 cups
  2. Onions (sliced) 2
  3. Tomatoes (sliced) 6
  4. Green chilies (roughly chopped) 3
  5. Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp.
  6. Red chili powder 2 tsp.
  7. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp.
  8. Coriander powder 1 1/2 tsp.
  9. Salt 2 tsp.
  10. Oil 1/2 cup

Ingredients for baghar:

  1. Cumin seeds 1 tsp.
  2. Whole red chili 4-6
  3. Garlic (chopped) 1 tsp.
  4. Curry leaves few
  5. Oil 2 tbsp.
  6. Coriander leaves for garnish

Method:

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add onions and fry till golden brown.
  • Now add tomatoes, ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, salt, turmeric powder and coriander powder.
  • Cook till the tomatoes get soft and leaves the oil.
  • Add soaked daal with 2-4 cups of water.
  • Put green chilies and cook till tender.

For baghar:

  • Heat oil in a frying pan add garlic, cumin seeds, whole red chilies and curry leaves.
  • Fry till the garlic gets brown.
  • Pour over daal.
  • Take out in a dish garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve with boiled rice and salad.
