Kofta Palak (Spinach with Meat Balls)


Ingredients for Koftas:

  1. Mince chicken 1/2 kg.
  2. Onion 1
  3. Salt 1 tsp.
  4. Cumin seeds 1 tsp.
  5. Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp.
  6. All spice powder 1/2 tsp.
  7. Gram flour 1 tsp.
  8. Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp.
  9. Green chillies 3
  10. Mint leaves (chopped) 2 tbsp.

Ingredients for Spinach gravy:

  1. Spinach (blanched and chopped) 2 cups
  2. Fenugreek 2 tbsp.
  3. Onions (chopped) 3
  4. Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp.
  5. Tomatoes (chopped) 4
  6. Yogurt 2 tbsp.
  7. Red chilli powder 1 1/2 tsp.
  8. Coriander powder 2 tbsp.
  9. Turmeric 1/2 tsp.
  10. Oil 4 tbsp.

Method:

  • In a chopper chop together minced chicken, onion, ginger garlic paste, salt, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, all spice powder and gram flour.
  • Take it out in a plate.
  • Add chopped mint and mix well.
  • Make small balls out of it.
  • Keep them aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add chopped onions and fry till brown.
  • Put tomatoes, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric.
  • Cook till tomatoes are soft and oil comes out.
  • Put yogurt and mix.
  • Add koftas with 1/2 cup water.
  • Cook on low heat for 15 minutes.
  • Add spinach and dry fenugreek.
  • Cover and cook for another 10-15 minutes.
  • Take out in a bowl and serve.
