Kacchi Chicken ki Biryani


  1. Chicken 1 kg.
  2. Rice 3 cups
  3. Onions (sliced) 4
  4. Ginger garlic paste 2 tbsp.
  5. Red chilli powder 1 tbsp.
  6. Green cardamom 6
  7. Cinnamon  2 inch piece
  8. Mace 1 small piece
  9. Yogurt 1 cup
  10. Milk 2 tbsp.
  11. Fresh coriander (chopped) 2 tbsp.
  12. Mint (chopped) 2 tbsp.
  13. Green chilli paste 1 tbsp.
  14. Lemon juice 3 tbsp.
  15. Saffron a pinch
  16. Cooking oil 1/2 cup


  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add sliced onions and fry till golden brown.
  • Take them out from the oil in a dish.
  • Crush them when cools.
  • Grind mace, green cardamom, cloves and cinnamon into powdery form.
  • In a bowl mix together yogurt, ginger garlic paste, green chillies, red chilli powder, salt, mint, fresh coriander, lemon juice grinded masala and crushed onions.
  • Put this mixture in the chicken and marinade.
  • Refrigerate for 4 hours.
  • Soak rice for atleast half an hour.
  • Boil in salted water until done.
  • Strain and keep aside.
  • In a pan put the marinated chicken.
  • Cover it with the boiled rice.
  • Mix Saffron in milk.
  • Put the milk and oil on top of the rice.
  • Cover , seal the sides with foil paper and cook on high heat for 4-5 minutes.
  • Lower the heat and let it cook for 20-25 minutes.
  • Take out in a dish and serve with raita.

      1. Oh wow! I love to watch all the cooking shows where they go to Asia, the fast food is actually still so very healthy and full of flavor compared to our western way of living and fast food you get here. You just can’t compare the two.
