Ingredients:
- Potatoes (boiled and mashed) 4-5
- Green chillies (chopped) 1 tsp.
- Onions (chopped) 1 tsp.
- Turmeric 1/8 tsp.
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp.
- Mint leaves 2 tbsp.
- Red chilli powder 1 tsp.
- Salt 1 tsp.
- Oil 2 tsp.
Ingredients for Batter:
- Gram flour (besan) 1 cup
- Oil for deep frying
- Salt to taste 1/2 tsp.
- Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp.
- Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp.
Method:
- Mix all ingredients of batter to form a dip thick enough to coat back of a spoon.
- Heat oil in a frying pan.
- Add mustard seeds, green chillies and onions.
- Saute for a couple of minutes till onions are soft.
- Add turmeric and salt and sauté for a few more minutes.
- Then add the mashed potatoes, mint leaves and sauté for a couple of minutes.
- Allow the potato mixture cool down.
- Shape into round balls.
- Heat oil in a wok for deep frying.
- Coat each of the potato balls in the gram flour batter.
- Gradually let it into the oil and deep fry until golden brown in color.
- Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot with green chutney or red chutney.
