Bohra Style Curry Cholay


Ingredients:

  1. Chickpeas 1/2 kg.
  2. Baking soda 1/8 tsp.
  3. Salt 2 tsp.
  4. Red chilli powder 1 1/2 tsp.
  5. Coriander powder 1 tsp.
  6. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp.
  7. Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp.
  8. Green chillies 4-5
  9. Garlic 6
  10. Gram flour (besan) 1 tsp.
  11. Tamarind pulp 2 tbsp.
  12. Curry leaves few
  13. Oil 4 tbsp.

Method:

  • Soak chickpeas in water with baking soda for 5-6 hours.
  • Wash and boil them in fresh water till tender and 1 cup water left.
  • Grind garlic, green chillies, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric and cumin seeds to a fine paste or masala.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add grinded masala with little water and cook till the water dries.
  • Put boiled chickpeas with salt and curry leaves.
  • Bring to boil.
  • Mix gram flour and tamarind pulp together adding little water.
  • Pour this on boiling chickpeas.
  • Stir and cook till gets thick.
  • Take out in a dish and serve with bohra style masalay walay aloo.
