Fish pulao


Another recipe of my mother.Basmati rice with spices, Firm flesh fish and tamarind.

Yummy!! taste’s excellent.

Ingredients:

  1. Fish 1 kg.
  2. Onions sliced 3
  3. Tomatoes 4
  4. Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp.
  5. Red chili powder 2 tbsp.
  6. Coriander powder 2 tbsp.
  7. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp.
  8. Green chilies 6
  9. Tamarind pulp 2 tbsp.
  10. Cloves  6
  11. Black cardamon 2
  12. Black pepper whole 8-10
  13. Cinnamon small piece 1
  14. White cumin seeds 1 tbsp.
  15. Curry leaves few
  16. Rice 3cups

Method:

  • In a pan heat oil add onions and fry till golden brown.
  • Put ginger garlic paste ,red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, salt, tomatoes and curry leaves.
  • Cook till the tomatoes get soft and the oil separates.
  • Now add the fish, cloves,black cardamon, black pepper whole, cinnamon, tamarind pulp and 1cup water to the masala.
  • Cook for 10 to 15 minutes till the fish is done.
  • Soak rice for half an hour.
  • Take out the fish pieces from the masala.
  • Put the soaked rice and green chilies in the masala.
  • Put enough water to cook the rice.
  • When the water dries up put the fish pieces on top.
  • Cover and leave for dum on low flame for 15 minutes.
  • Again take out the fish in a plate and rice in a serving dish cover the rice with the fish.
  • Serve with raita and vegetable salad.
