Fish curry



  1. Fish 1 kg.
  2. Salt 1 1/2 tsp.
  3. Green chilies 10
  4. Garlic 10 cloves
  5. Red chili powder 2 tbsp.
  6. Coriander powder 2 tsp.
  7. Crushed red chili 1 tsp.
  8. Cumin seeds 1 tsp.
  9. Turmeric 1/2 tsp.
  10. Tamarind 1/2 cup (soaked in 2 1/2 glasses of water)
  11. Onion 1
  12. Dried fenugreek 1 tbsp.
  13. Flour 2 tbsp.
  14. Oil 1cup
  15. Curry leaves few
  16. Coriander leaves for garnishing


  • Take green chilies, garlic, cumin seeds, red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and red chili crushed.
  • Grind them into a fine paste.
  • In a pan heat oil.
  • Fry onions till it turns its colour to pink.
  • Add the grinded masala with little water.
  • Then put curry leaves and dried fenugreek.
  • Cook till the water dries now add fish.
  • Take out seeds from the soaked tamarind.
  • Put flour in the tamarind water and mix.
  • Put this water in the fish.
  • Cook on high flame till it starts to boil.
  • When it starts boiling and gets thick lower the flame.
  • Cook for another 10 minutes.
  • Best to be eaten with boiled rice .
